GLBT Alliance in Social and Personality Psychology (GASP) is a nonprofit scientific and professional group open to all, regardless of sexual orientation or research interest. GASP was founded to provide social support and professional resources to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender students and faculty in social and personality psychology.

The International Academy of Sex Research (IASR) is a scientific society whose objectives are the promotion of high standards of research and scholarship in the field of sexual behavior by fostering communication among scholars engaged in such research. IASR promotes the dissemination of research through its annual meeting and publication of the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior.

The American Psychological Association's Division 44: Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Concerns is psychology's focal point for research, practice, and education on the lives and realities of LGBT people.

TeenHealthFX.com is an online resource for any and all questions regarding health, relationships, the body, and sexuality. While this site is informative, it's not a substitute for talking to your doctor and your parents.

GID Reform Advocates are medical professionals, caregivers, scholars, researchers, students, human rights advocates, and members of the transgender, bisexual, lesbian and gay communities and their allies who advocate reform of the psychiatric classification of gender diversity as mental disorder.

The YES Institute is a nonprofit social advocacy group focused on youth resiliency. Their mission is "to prevent suicide and ensure the healthy development of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and all youth by initiating dialogue, providing education, and creating support systems."


Trans Youth Family Allies (TYFA) is a nonprofit organization composed of parents, friends, trans youth, and ally caring adults focused on helping families navigate the medical, legal, educational, administrative, and social structures affecting the lives of trans youth. TYFA's mission is "to educate and raise public awareness about the medical and cultural challenges faced by children with gender variant and gender questioning identities and the families who love them."


True Colors works to create a world where youth, adults and families of all sexual orientations and gender identities are valued and affirmed. We challenge all forms of oppression through education, training, advocacy, youth leadership development, mentoring and direct services to youth and those responsible for their well-being.

Assets Coming Together (ACT) for Youth is an innovative youth development initiative that promotes social change to help young people thrive. ACT’s central strategy is the formation of cross-sector community partnerships. Charged with creating systemic changes in their organizations and communities, these partnerships seek to build communities where young people feel safe, where they are connected to adults and community institutions, and where they have developmentally supportive opportunities to be active agents in their lives and communities.

Recently, ACT for Youth published the first in a two-part series on trans youth, Growing up Transgender, that introduces current research and theory on transgender identity formation.
